Presets

Presets allow users to automate multi-step audio configurations with a single action. A preset bundles multiple actions together and can be triggered manually, via hotkey, or automatically by a trigger condition.

A preset consists of one or more actions executed in sequence. If an action fails, subsequent actions continue to execute.

Action Description
Select Amplifier Switch to a specific amplifier
Select Input Source Switch the amplifier to a specific input source
Select Amplifier Preset Activate a device preset on the amplifier
Set Amplifier Volume Set the amplifier to a target volume level
Toggle Mute Toggle the amplifier’s mute state
Action Description
Select Music Player Switch to a specific music player
Select Music Player Preset Activate a device preset on the music player
Select Playback Device Route audio to a specific playback device
Start Playback Start playback on a specific music player
Stop Playback Stop playback on a specific music player
Start Playback (Current) Start playback on the currently selected player
Stop Playback (Current) Stop playback on the currently selected player
Skip to Next Track Skip to the next track

Start Playlist Start playback of a selected playlist on a specific music player. The playlist is chosen at configuration time from the player’s browse library (supports search/filter). Both the playlist ID and display name are stored so the preset can show meaningful info without re-fetching.
Action Description
Select Dirac Preset Activate a specific Dirac Live room correction preset
Set Dirac Enabled Toggle Dirac Live processing on or off

Presets can be triggered automatically when specific conditions are met:

Trigger Category Description
Program Startup General Executes when HiFi Control starts
Program Shutdown General Executes when HiFi Control is shutting down
Input Source Changed Amplifier Executes when a specific amplifier switches to a specific input source

Each preset can be assigned a custom global hotkey for one-press execution. Preset hotkeys are dynamically registered with the hotkey system and appear in Settings → Hotkeys.

If any action within a preset fails during execution, the remaining actions still execute. After completion, an error dialog summarizes which actions failed and why.

Presets are managed in Settings → Presets, where users can:

  • Create new presets with a name and sequence of actions
  • Edit existing presets
  • Delete presets
  • Reorder presets
  • Assign hotkeys to presets

Active presets are accessible from the main window’s preset dropdown, which shows each preset’s name, assigned hotkey, and step count.
