Connection Management
HiFi Control automatically manages connections to your audio devices, including reconnecting when devices become temporarily unreachable and recovering when a device’s network address changes.
Connection States
Section titled “Connection States”| State | Description | What You See |
|---|---|---|
| Connecting | Initial connection attempt | Spinner with status message |
| Connected | Device operational | Full device controls |
| Disconnected | Network error or device powered off | Disconnected notice with retry options |
Automatic Reconnection
Section titled “Automatic Reconnection”When a connected device becomes unreachable (network error, device reboot, etc.), HiFi Control automatically:
- Detects the connection failure
- Shows a disconnected status notice
- Begins reconnection attempts at 3-second intervals
- Continues until the device responds or the user cancels
Device Recovery
Section titled “Device Recovery”If a device’s IP address changes (common with DHCP), HiFi Control can locate it on the network using its stored MAC address:
- Initial reconnection to the known IP fails
- The application offers a “Start Discovery” option
- A network scan locates the device by its MAC address
- Connection is re-established at the new IP address
User Actions
Section titled “User Actions”When a device is disconnected, the user can:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Reconnect | Manually retry connection to the last known address |
| Start Discovery | Scan the network for the device using its MAC address |
| Open Settings | Navigate to device settings for manual configuration |
