System Tray

HiFi Control integrates with the Windows system tray (notification area), providing persistent access to the application even when the main window is minimized or closed.

A system tray icon is displayed whenever the application is running. The icon reflects the current state:

  • Default icon: Normal operation
  • Muted icon: Active amplifier is muted

The icon updates in real-time when the mute state changes.

Right-clicking the tray icon shows a context menu with:

Action Description
Show Restores the main window
Settings Opens the settings panel
Exit Closes the application

When Start minimized or Minimize to tray is enabled in Settings → General, minimizing the main window hides it to the system tray instead of the taskbar. Double-clicking the tray icon restores the window.

Clicking the window close button (X) exits the application entirely.

The application configures a Windows Jump List on the taskbar, providing quick-access shortcuts.

A custom “Quit” option is added to the window’s system menu (accessible by right-clicking the title bar) for additional exit options.

HiFi Control ensures only one instance runs at a time. Launching a second copy will signal the first instance instead.
